A scenic view of mountains at sunset with vibrant colors in the sky.

My name is Andrea, I have been working in the restoration field for a long time. I attended the European Restoration University Villa Fabris and almost two courses a year for about twenty years covering almost all existing wall restoration techniques. Among all, the technique that fascinates me the most is that of Scagliola Carpigiana. An ancient Italian technique, born in Carpi in the 1800s, it was used to replicate marbles, inside homes or wherever a prestigious finish was desired. By restoring and reproducing artifacts and various installations for famous brands and European villas, I was able to perceive the immense potential of this mixture, but as a raw material, it presented limitations. Thus, I specialized in marble reproduction, developed with care after years of dedicated work and field research.  This has allowed me to create an innovative and recently patented product. The name I chose for the new blend is Mohsolite, which combines two words: the hardness scale 'Mohs', improved due to the modifications made, and 'Lite' derived from the Greek 'lithios', which means stone. With this blend, it is possible to reproduce furniture elements, wall panels, columns, and bases. It is also possible to coat drywall, concrete structures, and floors.

Processing

Its very particular processing is done entirely by hand as it does not allow the use of electric machinery, because in the polishing phase, which occurs through abrasion, a tiny impurity could scratch and compromise the entire work cycle. The steps are: Mixing, Spreading, Granulating and shaping, filling, sanding, drying, oiling, and waxing. It is possible to inlay the surface creating logos, designs, and reproductions of various kinds.

Some steps for a particular hyper-realistic reproduction of Portoro marble and some images of pad polishing on columns.
